Yuk Yuk’s Media launches an all-new Abbotsford comedy series at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium

Richmond, British Columbia (January 25, 2024) - Yuk Yuk’s Media (operated by Icarus Capital Corp) is launching its first Abbotsford BC comedy theatre series at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (MCA) on Saturday February 24, and later on May 4, 2024. These live stand-up comedy events will be branded as the Abby Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Night series.

This first special event on February 24 will feature headliner, and internationally touring Vancouver-based comic, Byron Bertram. Bertram will be supported by some of Canada’s fastest rising stars from the local lower mainland comedy scene, including Abbotsford-based host Alex Svarez and support acts including Chilliwack’s Cliff Prang and Langley’s Jessica Pigeau. A second event is already scheduled but talent will be announced shortly, at a later date.

Bertram recently came off of a wildly successful European tour in the Fall 2023 where he visited over 10 countries including the UK, Netherlands, German, Switzerland and more. Abbotsford will be in for a special treat with this seasoned traveling comic who knows how to adapt material for his diverse audiences.

About Byron Bertram (Headliner):

LIke a bird flu on international flights, Byron Bertram travel well. His innate talent for voices and accents mixed with a confident vulnerability has taken him across the world, performing in well over 30 nations, while establishing him as one of teh top Canadian comics working today. He has worked on stage with the likes of Zach Galifinakis, Flight of the Concords, and Eddie Izzard; was a hit with the judges on Brits Got Talent, has been seen on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, Dirks Gently, Riverdale and heard regularly on Sirius XM radio.

About Alex Svarez (Host):

Alex Svarez started comedy merely one year ago in Abbotsford but after producing countless shows, hosting, doing guest spots and performing all over the country, wherever possible, he has quickly built himself a positive reputation as the leader of the Abbotsford comedy scene. His comedy consists of irreverent observations and impressions, quick witted crowd work, scorching hot roasts of himself and the audience, and filterless confessions of his time on this crazy little rock spinning through space.

About Cliff Prang (Opening Act):

Cliff Prang is a professional actor, comedian, writer & producer.As a comic, he has shared the stage with Deborah DiGiovanni, SNL's Chris Kattan, and the late great Canadian Legend, Mike MacDonald. Reader's Digest lauded him as one of Canada's 50 Comedians to watch. As an actor, he’s been featured in numerous commercials and played roles on SuperGirl, Supernatural, Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce, the INBETWEEN and most recently ALASKA DAILY alongside 2 time Oscar Winner, Hilary Swank. 

About Jessica Pigeau (Opening Act):

Jessica Pigeau, the vibrant and quick-witted comedian, now newly based in Langley, is celebrated for her rapid-fire absurdist humour and distinctive voice. Beyond the stage, she is a multi-talented force, contributing her sharp wit as a researcher and comedy writer for channels like Linus Tech Tips, Tech Linked and Tech Quickie. She’s also the co-host for the Histories and Mysteries podcast, where she delves into intriguing tales with equal parts humor and curiosity.
